Happenings

Here are a few more pics of what we've been up to lately.

We're Home!

Trip to the Base Duck Pond

The Boys' First Airshow

Church

Trip to Lake Berryessa

...and then there were four.

We are very proud to introduce the newest addition to our family.
Lucas Scott was born on July 18th, 2011 at 5:19pm. He weighed 8lbs 10oz and was 20 3/4in. long.
Maybe it is because he is our second child or maybe it is because we aren't looking at a move in our future, or maybe because he is..but this time around seems a lot less stressful. We are all settled in at home and learning how to function as a family of four. It has been absolutely wonderful to have Daddy home also. He got baby leave and now he is on leave that he scheduled until the 15th. We are going to get really spoiled.

3 Weeks and a 2 Year Old

Sigh...that is all I have to say.

Dear Luke,
It has been a great 9 months. Now, Mommy would love to share you with the world. You can come on out anytime you wish. Daddy and Mommy would love to meet you and you have a very special Big Brother who can't wait to teach you all about being a little boy. He is getting a lot of practice in so he can show you everything you need to know.
Mommy would like to have her body back. Her hips are starting to give out and she is wider than she is tall. Your constant pummeling of her bladder is going to cause an embarrassing situation one of these days. Mommy's ribs are not monkey bars either. There will be lots of fun things to kick and hang from your toes from when you come on out and join us. Mommy's arms would love to share the burden of carrying you with her belly and hips.
Lastly, Big Brother has told Mommy that he wants you to come out so we can all run together again. You are going to love Big Brother!
All my love,
Mommy

Dear Johnny,
It has been an amazing, life changing 2 and a half years. I think I have learned more from you than I have taught you. I am constantly amazed by the things you can do and perplexed by some of the things that you choose to do. You have been my only child and I will miss our one on one time. I cannot wait to see how you react to your little brother. I know you will be an amazing big brother to Luke. He is a very lucky baby to have a brother that is so smart and amazing to teach him and love him like I know you will.
I am so impressed with your potty training in the past few weeks. We have progressed from frustration to pride at all you have accomplished. Let's keep up the good work so we can go to preschool in August. It breaks my heart to see you old enough for preschool, but I know you will have so much fun with the kids and Miss Tammy when you get to go.
I am so proud of my big boy and I can't wait for you to meet Baby Luke. He is going to love you! I know I do, more than anything in the world.
Love,
Mommy

Here's a few pics to get all caught up.

Nonsense

For almost as long as Johnny has been talking, he has said a word that no once can decipher. Genaughty.. I have no idea, but lately he has decided that his foot is named Genaughty. He just told me, showing me his foot, "This is Genaughty. He is going to go up in his rocket ship."

Best imagination ever.

He also got his first pair of shoes with lights on them yesterday.

He was VERY excited and kept almost running into walls watching his feet twinkle.

Kickin' it

I forgot to mention that both Jake and Johnny have now felt the little one kicking. I was rocking Johnny after his nap the other day and with my ever disappearing lap, he kind of drapes over my belly. The baby started kicking and I put Johnny's hand on my belly and when he felt it, he got this wide eyed look. I asked him if he felt it and he said yes. I told him that was baby brother and he just grinned and layed his head back down. Then baby brother started kicking him where he was laying across me and he just looked at me and grinned. So sweet!

Slacking

Yep, it has been a while, but here I am to get some catching up done.

Rain, rain, rain..we have been having a lot of it lately. I am sure Johnny will be happy when it starts letting up more so we can play at the park and outside more. I know I will. We had a warm snap a few weeks ago and it just made everyone all ready for warmer weather. Then it got cold and rainy again. Oh well, at least we know what to look forward to.

Baby boy is doing just fine. Proving himself to be quite a gymnast lately. At our twenty week ultrasound, he was being very photogenic for the ultrasound tech and she got some good pics of him as well as verifying again that he is a he. The profile pictures we got of him looks a heck of a lot like his big brother.

Poor kiddo still doesn’t have a name but we still have a little bit of time before we have to be too concerned about that.

Johnny has just gone through a pretty good growth spurt which means he has shot out of most of his clothes and jammies. It is kind of funny how all of a sudden I have to go get the kid a whole new wardrobe. Oh well at least we are changing seasons and the new baby will get good use out of them too.

Jake has been home for a few weeks and we are enjoying time together before he goes on his next trip. Here are some pictures of what we have been up to lately.

Big Boy

I am so impressed with my kiddo today. He had his second dentist visit this morning. Freaked out a little at his first one 6 months ago. This time was amazing! He was still a little hesitant, but as long as they let him stand up while they were looking at his teeth he was a champ! The hygienist there was amazing at keeping him calm and talking to him and she let him pick his toothbrush. Then when the Dentist came he opened wide up and said AAAAAA! Not a fuss or a whimper! We had a celebration lunch at Red Robin where he and I shared a cheeseburger and a chocolate shake.

Today as we were going to get the mail, what comes down our street but a HUGE fire truck. You know the kind that have a driver at the end? We live at the end of a street so I didn’t think they would come our way, but when the driver saw us he headed on down the street. I think they are training drivers or practicing driving that big fire engine because I have seen them around practicing before. Plus it is all shiny and new. Anyway, he comes right down our street and turned around. Waved at Johnny and the guys on the back waved too. He was dumbfounded, but waved at them too. As soon as we got in the house he went and took out all of his fire engines and played with them for quite a while. So cute!

The past week has been a ton of fun. It started with a trip to a museum called Scientopia with some friends of ours. They have a little girl the same age as Johnny and the two of them had a ton of fun exploring and playing at the museum in Napa.
Jake came home form his second trip of the year on Monday. On Tuesday, because I have no patience, we went to a place called A Little Insight and had an ultrasound done to see what the sex of the baby is.

There we go, another boy! Johnny will be a great big brother. Now to come up with a name.... We are still stumped on that one so far. I feel the baby wiggle now and get a firm punch or kick every now and again, but not so much that anyone else can feel him. The belly has officially popped out and the quest to look good in maternity clothes has begun. Johnny has noticed as well and will tell me that there is a baby in there.

Jake left for a trip on Friday and has yet to make it over the Atlantic Ocean so this will probably be a long one but he should be home by his birthday which we will be sharing with our friends, The Pooles. I am really looking forward to their visit. The past few days have been amazing in the weather department. We have been taking advantage of them by going to the park every day and cracking out the back yard toys. We had a Superbowl party yesterday and the kiddos had a blast playing outside in the sunshine. As for today, after naptime, we will be going on a nice long walk with a park trip at the end. Sigh...what a life!

January 2011

This month has been a nice, low key change to the hustle and bustle of the holidays. We got all of our Christmas decorations put away a bit early in anticipation of Jake going on a trip. I didn’t want to have to haul a huge tree out of the house all by myself so we said goodbye to Christmas before New Years.

The weather has been pretty chilly with a few nice, I can’t wait for Spring, days sprinkled in here and there. We take advantage of the nicer days and head out to the park or go for a walk or both.

Johnny and I started a music class about three weeks ago and he is really starting to enjoy it now that he has gotten used to it. The first day we went in early so I could sign him up and we were the only ones there. He got to talk to the teacher and play some of her instruments before the other kids and mommies came. Once the others arrived, he realized he would not be the “only Johnny” class and had a bit of a pout for the rest of the time. He also didn’t appreciate having to put the instruments away before he was finished playing with them. I was a little worried because I didn’t want to waste money on something he wouldn’t enjoy. We listened to the CD with the music and talked about it for the rest of the week. At the next class he seemed to understand what it was all about and got more into it. Yesterday’s class he was totally into it, playing instruments and giggling with the other kiddos in the class. We now have to listen to the CD every time we are in the car. He says “music” and apparently the only thing he considers music is the songs on the CD because the radio just doesn’t cut it anymore. Whew! Glad that wasn’t a total failure!

We have also had a few playdates with various friends. A few weeks ago we had LOTS of kiddos over to our house to play and he had a blast. We ended that playdate with a “picnic” on the living room floor of pizza because we didn’t have room at the table. Everyone seemed to enjoy that. I think we will be doing that again soon.

As for me, one trimester down and feeling great. It is as if my body realized that all of the books said I was supposed to be feeling better right as the first trimester ended. It was like flipping a switch. No longer felt sick and my energy came back somewhat. There are still days that I feel like I need to go to bed with Johnny but I don’t feel like that before bedtime everyday anymore. We hope to find out the sex sometime in the next month as long as baby cooperates. I can’t wait because that means I get to start decorating a nursery. I already have Johnny’s big boy room in mind and will be starting on that soon. Pics to follow.

Last weekend was beautiful outside and we went on an outing to the Sacramento Zoo with Johnny’s BFF Ollie and his family. He enjoyed the animals and the monkey going pee. He also liked going on the carousel with Daddy and once he got used to being on didn’t want to get off.

That is our month in a nutshell. Hope you are all staying warm and toasty!

New Baby

As you probably already know, we are expecting a new little one. The baby is due on July 12, 2011. I am happy to be leaving the first trimester behind me this week. As if on schedule, I have been feeling tons better this week. The nausea has subsided and I have more energy. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy a good nap and sometimes carrying Johnny when I am walking feels like I am running a marathon with him on my back. But, he is old enough to walk most of the time so I don't have to worry about that too much. I realized today that my days of getting him buckled into the truck are numbered. Takes a bit too much lifting and reaching. Pair that with a belly and it is going to be near impossible for this shorty to get that shorty loaded in.

I don't have much of a baby belly yet but even my bigger jeans are not comfortable anymore. It will be great when I fit into something. Maternity is a bit too big and everything else is a bit too small. Ah the joys of pregnancy.

Johnny and I talk about the baby in my belly and when he saw the ultrasound, he called it a dinosaur. Today I asked him about the baby in my belly and he said. "Not a baby, a dinosaur in Mommy's belly." So it looks like we are having a dinosaur...this should be interesting.

New Year, New Blog

Here we go again. This time I think I will stick with this one. Last year was an amazingly quick year. I guess that is how it goes with a little one. We had a good year full of the fun and excitement of watching Johnny grow from a baby into an amazing little boy. I can't even begin to list all of the things he has learned and accomplished in the last year.

Jake had quite a few trips, but not as many as the year before and we got to go on a long training trip with him to Albuquerque. I can't say we would have ever been to Albuquerque without Jake's training and it was a great experience. We also made a trip to Florida to visit family and see my last class of students graduate from High School. In September we made it down to San Diego for a quick trip and got to catch a Chargers game. Thankfully one that they won.

The end of the year got busy for me as I enjoyed hosting 3 baby showers for family and friends who all had girls before the end of the year as well as Johnny's second birthday party.

Among all of the festivities, we were elated to find out we would be expanding our family by one in July of 2011. As I near my 2nd trimester, I am starting to feel a lot better and my energy seems to be making a comeback. Which is a good thing because I will be working hard for the next 6 months decorating a big boy room for Johnny and a new baby room.

Here's to a happy and healthy new year for all of our family and friends!
